I chose to investigate the difference between the standard apple orchard and the new trend in farming, smaller tree's with the same amount of apples. This new way of farming allows for the same amount of apples with more yield per acre. This is called the European style of planting. The cost to the farmer is more at first but, the pay off is big. In the long run the farmer does not have to pay for ladders for tall tree's and tree's tend to be stronger because of the extra support system. Having a water irrigation system means the farmer is no longer at the mercy of the weather. He controls his crop. This farm is a great example of where farming is headed in order for profit. Also, the Sorbello farm is renting tree's to families for the season. What a great idea for kids and families.
